J’habite un musée

During our session on Monday 13th March on the topic Comment construire une histoire en images, Luis Pardiñas presented his “récit photographique” entitled J’habite un musée. Along with the other presentations on approaches to the topic, it led to a lively discussion on photography and narrative art. We decided to share it with a wider audience. Click on the image below to experience, in Luis’s words, une “visite non guidé d’un musée, avec étonnement et un peu d’humour. De l’entrée à la sortie, sans oublier ni le Café ni la boutique.

Photo Gallery: John Donaldson – Missing Persons Reports

Sometimes a series, a theme, a project develops organically and with little forethought. A few individual images taken spontaneously, with no specific intention of them being part of something larger, start to coalesce into that something larger, regardless of your lack of intention. And then you start to look out for – and find – images to add to this little oddity of a project you’ve begun to see emerging. Missing Persons Reports turned into a rather whimsical project which plays with the idea of humanity’s presence as confirmed by its absence. Or, it’s nothing more than a bunch of images of empty chairs and benches collected over the past eight years or so. Either way, I like the results and will undoubtedly continue to add to this odd, personally amusing little project. This is a selection of photographs from my ongoing “missing persons reports”.

The CIEL programme: extended cut

As you all probably know, you can consult our calendar from the website to see the subjects of upcoming sessions. You can even subscribe to the calendar to have it available in your own calendar app. However, the amount of information which can be shared about any particular session in the calendar is somewhat limited. So … we decided to create a page to share a bit more detailed information about the club’s upcoming sessions. You can access the page from the sub-menu item under the Programme main menu entry or directly from the link on the Programme page. We hope that you find this additional information on our sessions useful.

What’s On: Rencontres Photographiques du Val de Fensch

The first Rencontres Photographiques du Val de Fensch, organised by GAPHE (Groupement des Amateurs Photographes d’Hayange et ses Environs) will open on Friday 3rd February at 18:30 and will continue on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th, from 10:00 to 18:00 in the Salle le Molitor in Hayange. It combines an exhibition of the winners of the Grand Prix de Lorraine de Photographie and a collection of images from members of GAPHE. For full details, check out the website of GAPHE.

Exposition “Chemins”

On Monday 16th January, the vernissage of the latest exhibition by members of CIEL took place at the Office of Publications of the European Union in rue Mercier, the Office having once again kindly agreed to be host to our annual exhibition. Eighteen CIEL photographers explore the theme of “chemins” with very varied approaches and interpretations.

“A travers ce thème, chaque auteur exprime ses voyages réels et imaginaires, ses visions et attentes, ses perceptions personnelles” – Dirk Stockmans (President CIEL)

If you would like to visit the exhibition you can arrange to do so by contacting Willem van Gemert (+352 621 213368). For those who cannot, never fear, an online virtual 3D edition of the exhibition will be coming shortly. For more photos from the vernissage head on over to the gallery, courtesy of Jean-Baptiste Bertrand.
