On Monday we had a first meeting to decide what we want to do as a next step in our exhibition projects. The group decided to jump into new themes and come up with new ideas and not to go back to the unfinished project : People. Places. Stories.So this story is a closed case now.

In 2014 the EU Parliament is busy with the elections - there will be no exhibition project. 2015 the series of exhibitions will continue ... but in which form etc... we will see.

So, we are going back to "our private" exhibition project and I think that everyone enjoys also this liberty.

There were 2 proposals which the members will add in the following.

Dirk proposed to go over once to a contemplative photography kind Miksang ...

Miksang is a Tibetan word meaning "good eye" and represents a form of contemplative photography based on the Dharma Art...

Pierre proposed to go back to the roots and B/W studio portraIts

They will precise their ideas in replying to this message

Looking forward to the new expo. As I said in our meeting, I would prefer to choose a subject and not a technique allowing each photographer to interpret the subject from his/her point of view and using his/her preferred technique. I think it is exactly this variety which makes our expositions so interesting.

P.S. IMO it would be a good idea to organise theme evenings where we present our B&W portraits, Miksang style pictures, etc. but not to impose a technique for the expo.

Good evening everyone

Following the discussion of monday, I must say that I am interested by "miksang" and will certainly read carefully the presentation which Dirk will make.

I come here with another proposal, which could "illustrate or promote" the activities of our club.

The theme would be a color, namely in this case: BLUE.

You understand then that the name of our expo could be:
"le CIEL est bleu" ou
"Bleu est la couleur du CIEL" etc ...

This give full freedom to our members, even by using miksang technique.

Bonjour Ã tous,
La diversitÃ© des" photographes prÃ©fÃ©rÃ©s" prÃ©sentÃ©s Ã la rÃ©union hier soir, a montrÃ© Ã quel point les sensibilitÃ©s personnelles pouvaient Ãªtre enrichissantes mais diffÃ©rentes.C'est pourquoi, il me parait encore plus difficile aujourd'hui d'envisager une exposition sur le thÃ¨me Ã " Ã la maniÃ¨re de ". Je pense que nous avons tous envie de nous faire plaisir photographiquement au travers de ce projet et je suis d'accord avec Alain pour trouver un thÃ¨me que chacun sera libre de traiter ou non "Ã la maniÃ¨re de". Il pourrait y avoir Ã l'intÃ©rieur du sujet une ligne conductrice Ã respecter (couleur ou gÃ©omÃ©trie ou mouvement ou objet ou sÃ©rie etc.....Â°) qui donnerait en plus du thÃ¨me, une vraie cohÃ©sion Ã l'exposition.

I must say that I like the idea of color as main line.
One color? Or a rainbow? Why not!!

For exhibition or not, a la maniere de" could be an interesting exercise.

Hi, everybody.

This Monday Dirk W. informed us about Miksang - "Good Eye". Thank you very much for this input.
I am happy to tell you that there was directly a big interest and enthousiasm about the theme, the new approach and this kind of challenge to discover new approaches in photography (for a lot among us). We had a very interesting evening session, vivid discussions and at the end of the session the present members voted unanimously for this new project idea "Exhibition 2014". What will come out - we don't know but everyone likes to jump into and make this experience. As Pierre said : We have to free our mind".

In order to inform you of what we are speaking, Dirk will give you here on the forum the links to the videos -they are in English - you are invited to add links to French material/videos about Miksang.

Dirk Stockmans will also contact a workshop teacher about Miksang so we would have a good base for our project.

There is not yet more decided about the project, so we are always in the preparation phase... but it is an exciting start.

I talked tp HÃ¨len Vink today, who gives Miksang workshops. She is willing to come to Luxembourg. We would have an evening with a general introduction on a Friday Night, then a Saturday with a first part. We would then practise and a few weeks later we would spend a Saturday and Sunday.

The dates will most likely be Friday evening 10 and Saturday 11 January, and Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 February.

More details later.

After our discussion tonight, we have 10 of our members interested in taking the Miksang course with Helen Vink.

Please mark the dates in your calendars:
- Friday 10 January in the evening
- Saturday 11 January all day
- Saturday 1 February
- Sunday 2 February

I will shortly post more details about how to register and the exact hours.

Seeing the video interview with Michael Wood and the two Miksang compilations that DirkW showed this evening, it reminded me a little of the One Street series I took some years ago in the context of a workshop at Photomeetings. The instruction was to take pictures from one street. I ended up in the Rue du CimÃ©tiÃ¨re in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie. A road that I had always considered shabby and not attractive, turned out to be really photogenic ... if you just open your eyes.

Hello,
"Long time, no see!" comme disent les Anglais. J'ai malheureusement un cours du soir les lundis et ne peux donc Ãªtre parmi vous aux rÃ©unions du club. Je suis avec intÃ©rÃªt les discussions sur la nouvelle expo "Miksang" Ã laquelle j'aimerais participer. J'ai dÃ©jÃ quelques idÃ©es "contemplatives"!
