Ad 1. the windows/reflections series. I agree with you that we should select the first three. For me we can close this series.

Ad2. red bridge: I already prepared the series by replacing mine by Almyraâ€™s new. Think that Almyras gives a strong message and finalizes this series very well. i think that we couldl close this issue too. Don't need a nother red bridge series in my opinion becuase of the 2 abstract bridge pics.

Ad 3. DirkW's post #130. ..... I show below the two proposals â€¦ so everyone can compare the best â€¦ - still an open issue -

Ad 4. the towers. Could imagine your solution, Andras â€¦see the image attachedâ€¦ we are not obliged to put 3 images â€¦

5. new proposal : Could also imagine a second tower series . image from DirkST and two different zooms by Almyra: For me the first gives the context â€¦ the next 2 are decomposing by focusing 2 two different buildings (if I see well both zooms find a base in Dirks picturesâ€¦) so we have a figurative going to abstract vision â€¦ only an ideaâ€¦.

I will check the technical quality of Andreas Macniakova's pictures (the train pictures I uploaded yesterday). Web optimized they seem to me unsharp. I am not so convinced by the pictures... should be better in the photographic realization...If not yet ready for this year I am sure, we will have good inputs in the next year's show by her.

Hi,

I would be happy if you took the first one with the big spider web of the bridge samples. I really like the bridge being repeated in the raindrops. Thanks a lot for the positive comments about the other picture, however I personally would prefer it that way and not use the pole one in the exhibit.

I meant GÃ©rard's vertical picture... Even though the other is horizontal, I would still very much prefer those two. Any opinions?

You have the final decision - it is your series... the discussion should only assist to compare and give new points of views and ideas... and decision help!

Other point : sure I pasted the horizontal... there is not this beautiful cloud effect ... my error. had so much technical upload problems ... that i did no final check. Here follows your proposal ... it's the right now?

Conclusion of the discussion : DirkW : you decide for the 2 abstract bridge of you. 1 series - closed

Almyra : you decide if you prefer 2 abstract buildings as a series or add Dirk's image. 1 series - closed (if you have question you can always contact me...)

we have the window reflection series closed

we have the red bridge series (DirkW 1 and Almyra 2) closed

Have a last proposal : I think as we have two more alcoves : As time is running out (I would like to close tomorrow because for some of you holidays will start) I don't want to fill the alcoves at any price I have a simple solution at the end:

1. I have always to check the quality of the train series of Andrea - but if the print quality would be fine, what do you think of the pictures ... ( see below... )

2. In my opinion Irmas 8 pictures could be streched over 2 alcoves - you agree ?

Then we would have finished ... everyone could go over to print

Gila,

I have spent some time looking over all the photos on the forum (as well as at my own).

I think we can close the series with 2 of my photos and one of Dirk S's......I agree that the 3 work very well together ... composition and then the decomposition.

I also think that Irma's photos can take up 2 alcoves; her concept/interpretation of 'short distances' was realized with great creativity and what I think is a superb result! I am unsure of what size was decided on though.

The red bridge series; I am left feeling not completely satisfied with my contribution and would really like to see a 3rd photographer contribute here!!

Ok - tower series DirkST and Almyra - closed

As Irma is just rescanning and finalizing the pictures I will see with her which size we can take : as these are 4 images the have to be smaller than the 75 ... but we will arrange this together this week

Red series - for me it's fine like this but I see what you mean...
we can wait a bit more here if there will still come a new last-minute-input ... if not we take it in this way - we will see

Hello,

I think It's a good idea that Irma's photos take up 2 alcoves. Andrea's photos are a bit too blurry 2 me, except for the last one. I like the idea but a tripod and the use of B/W would have made a difference and created a more interesting atmosphere.

Generally speaking, I think we'll get a clearer idea of what works and what doesn't once we get the prints. I hope we don't create a "red bridge overdose" effect with too many photos of it. Less is more!

I just ordered some small 13 x 17 prints of my pictures in order to make the selection of the final 18 cars/numberplates and to experiment with the order. I should have them end of the week. With a bit of luck I could order the final prints next weekend. I will order them at http://www.photoweb.fr/ as suggested by FÃ©lix. They allow to go up to 76 x 100 which should suit great for 3 pictures of 20 x 30 each.

another important remark to those who are sharing a series project.

It would be great if you decide together the style: brilliant picture print out or not. Would be good if you coordinate this for the common series - eventually if it's possible the same output size (or at least nearly).

This concerns DirkW and Jacques, DirkST and Almyra, and so on ... thanks for taking contact with the other partner

I see that a lot of people will print matt (don't have the english term) - it means no brilliant pictures... I personally choose this kind of output too. If you can... select the same kind.

It's not mandatory if someone already ordered brilliant - it's okay... but if not ...would be great to have a coherent presentation

beside DirkW and Almyra ordered prints at www.saal-foto.de - Price for a poster of 75 cm x 50 cm (in matt) : 11 Euros!

i just coordinate our series ... have to say ..I am really happy with our discussion we had and expecially our results!

Did you order all your prints at http://www.saal-digital.de/? If yes, did you order them in matt or briliant, and what colourspace did you use (Adobe RGC, sRGB)?

I don't know if Almyra already answered - I only know that Dirk and Almyra combined their order so I think that she prints in matt as Dirk does. Concerning the colourspace I have no informaiton..

Hello,

I just come back from holidays and I didn't have the chance to follow-up what has been decided for the exhibition. As I understood, a lot of series are already finalised....Is there a meeting scheduled to discuss this ?

I took a couple of pictures to complete my previous ones (the red bridge in the fog in B&W) but I'm not very happy with this series...I will try to post tonight or this week-end some pictures for your comments...

as we loved your series of two (the bridge foggy) I thought you can take these two B & W pictures we saw and selected in the club once as your series...

if you want to join a third which would be a plus for the series you can propose it on the forum here, if you think that your series of two is stronger without a third one so it's fine for me.

We decided that normally a print should be done in 75 x 50 cm if the file allows this zooming, we try also to coordinate a coherent presentation and most of us print out in matt and not brilliant. If you want you can go over to print ... The collage will be organised by the club after collecting the prints.

Dear all,

Today I finally received the small prints of my number plates pictures. I had made a first selection on screen, but with the actual prints it was much easier and more obvious which pictures to keep. A shame they were not in time, otherwise I could have asked your opinion last Monday.

In the end, I created two 100 x 76 cm pictures. Now let's hope that http://www.photoweb.fr will be able to handle the file size. There is a maximum of 10 MB per file mentioned, but each file weighs around 50 MB ...

perhaps you can send a CD-Rom to them or choose a place here (... but this would be more expensive.)

if it does not work it should be no problem to downsize the picture to 4000 * 3000 pixel resolution for the size of the poster.

Thanks Gila! In the Photomeetings.lu workshop Jessica Backhaus suggested to use small photo prints to make a selection and I can confirm that it becomes much easier and obvious which pictures to select and in what order.

I have to admit that I'm not an expert in this domain. The website of http://www.photoweb.fr mentions an even lower resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels, which does not seem much to me.

In the end I saved the files as jpg qualty 10 and with 240 dpi resolution thus getting the size down to 21 MB per file. Their website accepted the upload, so I guess there should not be a problem.

I'm a bit anxious about the colours though ... I downloaded the Photoweb profile, but I found the colours too fade, so I used the "convert to profile" function to make the colours correspond more to the colours on my calibrated screen. Let's hope it works out!

Another remark to everybody... please when your large prints arrive ... open them carefully when you control the print result...and don't touch on the surface to avoid dammage. Even a small fold will be visible when they are mounted on the kappa. So - be carefully. see you all Monday!
